Visiting le Suquet, the old Cannes city center

Who says Cannes, probably says la Croisette first...its well known beach boulevard that is always buzzing with people and is lined up with haute couture shops and hotels.  Yet you can escape from all the buzz and seek shadow and a bit more peace and quiet if you are willing to climb the hill of Le Suquet. That's the rock above the harbour where the first settlement of Cannes rose in history. Now it is home of the cathedral and castle and some cute little (staircase) streets.  Around the feet of the hill are some cute streets full of restaurants which is a really nice place as you are protected from the predominant wind that seemed to come from the east while we were there.

We loved our day in Cannes last summer: very hot but a lovely walk all along la Croisette (the entire boulevard) and then a climb to the top where we enjoyed the view & a quiet bar where we had a drink :)
